...When trying to sync or download anything from the Samba share the computer drops all communication and we are unable to telnet or even ping the server. Five minutes later we have full communication

...I learned about DNS and Bind and set up the server without a problem.

...The new server acts as a web and DNS server.

Set up a Linux firewall using IPchains and the pmfirewall script.

Small Internet company of about 25 users connected to the Internet via T-1. All workstations were Win98.
Problems:
...I had problems with the Windows 98 workstations. When I changed the gateway the machines lost all connectivity.
Solution:
...I had to remove all the protocols and re-add them.

... At first I was going to use diald which was a pain in the ass to configure.
Solution:
...Used the dial on demand feature in the PPPD. and it worked like a charm.

..I ran tcpdump to determine if there were broadcast storms happening and it appeared to be happening.

...Unable to remember what the proxy server we used, I will need to look it up.
